The Institute's new website
The Institute of Demolition Engineers has a new website. It is at the same address, ide.org.uk, and it has been rebuilt from the ground up for the Institute's fiftieth year.
Everything the old site held is still here: the library of guidance and papers, the Rules and the Handbook, the news archive, the grades of membership and how to apply, examinations, the CSCS PQP card and the events calendar. Old links carry on working.
What is new
- Find an engineer. A public register of members in good standing, searchable by name, so a client can check that the person they are appointing holds the grade they say they do.
- Lessons learned. A place for the profession's own case studies, published by the Institute as they are approved.
- Ask IDE. An assistant in the corner of every page that answers questions about joining, the grades, CPD and Institute guidance, from the Institute's own published pages, with a link to the page it drew on.
- Membership, explained. The seven grades side by side with their fees, the standings beyond them, and a four-step route to applying online.
- Events. The calendar, the kinds of gathering the Institute runs, and the CPD each carries.
The members' area
Alongside the website is a new members' area. Every member will have an account with their record, their CPD log, a digital membership card, event booking and check-in, the members' directory and a help section.
Invitations go out by email in the week after the 50th Anniversary Gala and AGM on 19 September. There is nothing to do until yours arrives. The office will be recording CPD from event registers directly, so attendance at Institute events is credited without a form.
Tell us what you think
If something is wrong, missing or hard to find, tell the office at info@ide.org.uk. The site will keep changing as members use it.
