How the Institute is governed
The Institute is managed by an elected Council of Management, each member serving a two-year term. Alongside it sit the Membership Committee, which assesses every application, the Event Committee, and the Board of IDE Trustees.

Applying for membership? Applications should be receivedfour weeks before a Membership Committee meeting in order to be considered at it. Your account shows the next meeting date and whether your application will make it.
Subscriptions and lapse
Under the Rules, failure to pay subscription fees later than two months after the deadline given will automatically result in termination of membership. Members in difficulty should contact the Institute before the deadline.
Conduct
Members practise under the Institute’s rules and code of conduct and are accountable to them. Membership may be suspended or terminated where those obligations are not met. Concerns about a member’s conduct should be raised with the Institute directly.
