The CSCS Professionally Qualified Person card
Membership of the Institute is recognised by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. Eligible members get the PQP card free — the same card held by competency-assessed members of the CIOB and IStructE.

What it is
The Professionally Qualified Persons (PQP) card is the CSCS card for competency-assessed members of professional bodies. It shows clients and partners that you are committed to leadership in site-based health and safety, and it brings benefits to designers, consultants, architects, engineers, surveyors and others whose bodies meet CSCS criteria.
Full Members and Fellows of the Institute whose CPD is fully up to date have their professional competence as demolition engineers accredited alongside those other bodies.
This is what the letters are for. Membership is assessed by examination and interview; the PQP card is that assessment turned into something you can show at a site gate or attach to a tender.

Keeping it
It matters that card holders comply with the Institute’s CPD requirements. When the card comes up for renewal after five years, the holder must have acquired a total of60 CPD hours over that period.
Your CPD record in the members’ area tracks this for you, and shows whether you currently meet the PQP threshold — so renewal is never a scramble through five years of certificates.
