What it costs to join the Institute, and what you pay each year as you progress through the grades.

Joining fee
Applications to join the Institute incur a non-refundable joining fee of £300. This covers the assessment of your application, and is payable whatever the outcome.
Annual subscription
Once you have joined, your annual subscription is set by your grade. It reduces as you progress — the Institute charges least of those who have given it most.

Please note. Failure to pay subscription fees later than two months after the deadline given will automatically result in termination of your membership. If you are having difficulty, contact the Institute before the deadline rather than after it.
Refunds
Joining fees are not refunded unless an application is inappropriate. Subscription fees and examination fees are non-refundable. Event bookings are made at favourable rates and cannot normally be refunded except in exceptional circumstances.
Paying
Members can pay and manage their subscription in the members’ area, where invoices, receipts and renewal dates are all in one place. Renewal reminders are sent ahead of the deadline so nothing lapses by accident.
