FAQs
IDE Merchandise
We do our best to ensure that our branded goods are of the highest quality and fully fit for purpose. They are only sold to IDE Members.
All merchandise can be purchased by members at IDE Seminars, however, should you wish to order something specific please download the following Merchandise Order Form 2018 or contact IDE HQ on 01634 790548 or email [email protected] Members have 14 days from the date of receipt to return any items to benefit from a full refund. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition as it was received and in the original packaging. Your item will need to be accompanied by a full explanation as to the reason for return and once received the IDE will arrange a full refund or, if required, a replacement. Refunds are processed within 14 days of receiving the returned goods.
Refunds are not applicable to goods that are given by the IDE as gifts or tokens of appreciation.
IDE Events
We invite you to book to attend an IDE event but we advise you that your place will only be confirmed once we have received a completed booking form and you have made payment in full. Please visit our Events page and download a booking form for the event you are interested in or contact [email protected] . Please book early as popular events sell out very quickly.
IDE Examinations
The IDE examinations are held twice a year and an invitation to sit them is sent out to all Entrants about two months beforehand.
It is hoped that all candidates will be successful on their first attempt, for which the fee of £210 includes payment for the Preparation Day. Attendance at the Preparation Day is required for all first-time candidates.
If, unfortunately, you are not successful the resit fee is £100 for the examination alone. You will be welcome to attend the Preparation Day again, if you wish. In this case please book for the ‘Examination /Preparation Day’
Please contact the IDE office to request a booking form [email protected]
Booking an Event, Subscription or Application
Bookings for Seminars, Examinations, Social /Fund Raising Events
Once payment is received, a receipted invoice, together with confirmation of your place will be sent to you by e-mail. You should receive this confirmation almost immediately but as there are times when the office is extremely busy it may take up to two weeks to process your booking.
Payment of subscriptions
IDE members will receive an invoice for their subscriptions in early March/April or on admission to membership. Payment should be made by 31st May at the latest. A receipt will not be sent following payment unless specifically requested by email.
Application fees
An application form must have an application fee associated with it in order for it to be considered at a Membership Committee meeting. On receipt of the fee you will receive acknowledgement of your application and notification of when your application will be presented to the Committee.
How to Pay the IDE
Pay Pal
Due to the 5% charge incurred on all transactions we have decided to no longer use the PayPal service as a way of making payments to the IDE. All payments should be made by cheque or BACS/Internet Banking (see below).
We are very happy to receive payments by BACS /Internet Banking.
Please request the relevant details by email [email protected] when making a BACS transfer payment.
Please note that we do not accept payments by credit card over the telephone.
Cancellation Policy
Booking fees for IDE events
We do not confirm bookings for events until payment in full is received.
We organise events in first class locations at very favourable rates for our members and their colleagues. This means that we have to guarantee and pay for a minimum number of attendees. Therefore, refunds on tickets cannot be made, unless there are exceptional extenuating circumstances. A booking may, however, be transferred to another person if the IDE is notified no more than 14 days prior to the event. The IDE cancellation policy can be read here Cancellation or Failure to Attend Events
Application fees to join the Institute
We do not refund application fees unless the application is found to be totally inappropriate, e.g. from someone who is not engaged in demolition engineering. The fee does not expire, so the applicant has time to gather any extra information or experience that the Membership committee requires.
Subscriptions and Examination Fees.
We do not refund subscriptions or examination fees. Candidates may, under certain circumstances, transfer to a later examination session. The IDE cancellation policy for examinations can be read here Cancellation or Failure to Attend
