The return of the IDE Golf day saw around 70 players attending the Wergs Golf Club on the morning of 5th June, with some trepidation as the weather forecast was not the best!
After a welcome bacon roll and fuelled by coffee, the players set off under a shotgun start at 10am. The course played beautifully and is testament to the care given by the groundsmen. The weather, fortunately, did not live up to the forecast, but numerous clothing changes between showers and sunshine were required.
The teams started arriving back not long after 2pm for a well earned drink and lunch.
Prizegiving was held after lunch with the J F Hunt team winning, closely followed by C&D’s team led by Matthew Bardgett. Matthew had a very good round and won the individual competition as well as the longest drive. The closest the pin was won by Richard Allsop from Wirtgen Group.
The raffle and mulligans were well supported on the day and the final reckoning suggests that close to £6,000 was raised for charity. This will be split between Claire House (palliative care for children) and Sue Ryder the NFDC 2025 Charity.
I would like to thank all players for attending and all sponsors for generously donating to these wonderful causes.
See you all in 2026!
Mike Kehoe
