The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is holding Constructing Health and Safety 2014, a one day conference on 25 September, to help improve standards, practices, welfare and wellbeing across industry.
The programme will explain common reasons for failed health and safety inspections and highlight examples of best practice. It will explore imminent updates to legislation, and concentrate on embedding world class safety across the lifecycle of a project – highlighting significant innovations in technology, skills and BIM. Construction workers are nearly four times more likely to be killed than the average worker, and around 70,000 people currently suffer ill health as a result of their work. ICE’s Health and Safety Expert Panel works to disseminate knowledge and best practice to members, industry, and wider society – with the aim of ensuring the highest standards of awareness and risk management in a hazardous profession.
