As members are aware, with each new Presidential term, the incoming President chooses a worthwhile charity to support during their term of office.  We are pleased to announce that Richard Dolman FIDE, has chosen to support the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to his heart, and there are many ways you can help him with his fundraising goals.

For those of you unfamiliar with this charity, the Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading Dementia charity.  They campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with Dementia today.  Did you know that Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and that someone develops it every 3 minutes and sadly, there is currently no cure.  To understand more about Dementia click here

Throughout the year, the Alzheimer’s Society have a variety of events for you to get involved with, kicking off with Dementia Action Week from 17th-23rd May 2021 which includes Denim for Dementia,  then later in the Autumn the Memory Walk that can be done with just you and your family, or in a much bigger group (restrictions permitting)  and then there’s Elf Day that takes place over the festive period to name just a few.

Your help to support this amazing charity will be invaluable and for this purpose the IDE have set up a Just Giving page for any donations you may wish to make.  Every donation you make will be dedicated to the Alzheimer’s Society, whether you have chosen to organise your own event or attending one organised by the IDE you will be raising money to power life-changing dementia research and supporting those people who are being affected by Dementia today.  Thank you
