30 Cyclists, all prepared for the challenge, cycled from Solihull to Westminster Bridge – a total of 135 miles – on 25th May 2019! Past Council of Managament Member, Adrian McLean FIDE informed the IDE that all completed the ride safely and raised a staggering £65,000 for NICE. They would like to thank all friends and colleagues for the Demolition industry who supported this challenge. Orlaith’s Mum, Caroline has already donated a very impressive £63, 478.00 to this worthwhile charity and with this most recent addition, will be able to use the funds to support the invaluable work of the charity.
Adrian McLean also commented that, within an email from Caroline, she told him that “Orlaith is making progress. She struggles to put weight on her arms to lift herself up without the use of arm braces and it is hoped that, in time, she may be able to crawl. Following advice from Orlaiths Senior Physiotherapist they have booked an assessment at a centre in Malvern to see if she would be suitable to start an oral training programme which aims to isolate and develop the muscles in her mouth. This will hopefully encourage better feeding and speech skills. The assessment and any on-going treatment they advise will be paid for using the money that has been raised on Orlaiths Night. We cannot thank everyone enough for the opportunities this has given Orlaigh and we will keep you updated on her progress!”
