On Thursday 4th May the IDE hosted it’s second Southern Regional meeting of 2017.  The event, sponsored by Erith Contractors, was held at their 33 Grosvenor Place site in London.

The event saw three presentations  and first to take the stand was Nick Turnbull from GNAT-UK.  Nick provided the audience with an overview of the Brokk remote Demolition of the Shrewsbury Flax Mills Silos which were located adjacent to the Grade One listed, and first ever, iron framed building erected in the World.  Nick also provided an in=-depth overview of the robotic Refractory Kiln Wrecking decontamination process that GNAT-UK have developed for removing kiln and tank linings.

Second to speak was Mark Greenhalgh from Peak Access.  Marks presentation gave a view of the rope access industry and how Peak Access had assisted Erith and the National Trust in recovering and documenting items of significant interest following the devastating fire at Clandon Park 18th Century stately home.

The final presentation, was from Terry Madden of Erith.  Terry’s presentation was about the Demolition, façade retention and enabling works package for the Cross rail Eastern Ticket Hall OSD Bond Street and Hanover Square redevelopment.

The IDE would like to thank all the speakers and Erith Contractors for hosting and producing yet another successful regional meeting that attracted over 37 attendees.  Watch this space for more news on the next South East Regional expected in either August or September.
