Last Friday saw the EDA Conference in Glasgow where 150 delegates listened to presentations on demolition related projects and subjects from around Europe during a packed programme at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Unfortunately IDE President Duncan Rudall was unable to attend at the last minute so the IDE presentation was delivered by Former President John Woodward on his behalf. The informative presentation gave a brief of history of the 40 Years of IDE which demonstrated how far the institute has come from the early days of a handful of members to it’s present position of over 400 members throughout the World.
The highlight of the presentation however was the announcement of the new MSc and BSc degree courses to be run in conjunction with the University of Wolverhampton that are open to all demolition engineers looking to increase their knowledge and to gain an academic qualification in demolition engineering.
Following the presentation John received a number of enquiries for membership from France, Belgium & Italy.
The conference was followed by a gala dinner at the Glasgow Trades Hall that saw IDE member William Sinclair MIDE installed as the new President of EDA.
