On Wednesday 8th October the IDE held a very successful East Midlands Regional Meeting at the site of Caterpillar (UK) Peckleton Lane, Desford. Host, IDE Council Member, Richard Dolman, MIDE opened the meeting by welcoming all 41 members and guests.
Caterpillar provided an excellent location with great facilities for the meeting and included a Steak & Ale Pie Supper. Steven O’Mara Industry Manager for Finning CAT – Demolition & Work Tools introduced himself and gave a brief talk about the site.
Richard Dolman MIDE – AR Demolition Ltd
Steve O’Mara – Finning (UK) Ltd
Angelo Cugini – Richard V Wallis Insurance Brokers
Richard Dolmans three presentations included:
- Decommissioning of Press Halls
- Safety Alert: Hook Lorries
- Deconstruction of the Belgrave Flyover (which was hastily slotted in as the speaker booked unfortunately had to cancel at short notice.)
Steven O’Mara gave two short presentations about services and the development of new industry specific equipment. As the torrential rain subsided PPE was then collected for a brief tour of the equipment displayed. Following supper Angelo Cugini of Richard V Wallis insurance brokers gave a concise thought provoking talk about industry insurance renewal and conditions. The evening concluded with Richard thanking everyone for their attendance and all attendees receiving a CAT goodie bag.
The IDE wish top thank Caterpillar (UK) for their hospitality and all the Speakers who supported this event.
