At the Council of Management meeting held on 4th June, it was agreed that, as an institute, we need to re-launch Demolition Engineer, which was an unfortunate casualty of last year’s events.
The Council is currently deciding the final make up of a renewed magazine but a given is that it will include articles and project features and this is where you need to play a part in bringing back the magazine bigger and better than before.
The IDE needs you, its members, to put pen to paper and give us the copy that we need to fill the pages.
We are looking for features on projects you have completed or are carrying out – a chance to blow your own trumpets.
We are looking for technical articles – this is about sharing knowledge – what you may know or do others may not – use of explosives, propping plans, management of blue light routes, bridge demolition, understand the BS, efficient materials recovery in soft stripping, chemical waste removal, dust capture systems, KPIs for training, KPIs for plant operation, DRIDS, health & safety, handling composite floor coverings, temporary works design – the only limit is your imagination. 400 – 800 words on something you know and are interested in come very easily once you make a start. We are looking for your opinions on any sector issue that is on your mind.
Write to the Editor and tell the IDE what it is doing right and what it needs to revisit. The IDE is your institute and Demolition Engineer is the IDE’s magazine and it needs your input to succeed.
