During his time with Armac, Noel has developed both the core demolition business and also the ‘Rail & Civils’ division of Armac which specialises in bridge dismantling projects.
To date, Noel has completed some 200+ bridge dismantling schemes throughout the UK by explosive, heavy lift, SPMT and jacking & slide and is now considered to be one of the UK’s leading authorities on bridge dismantling and possession working.
Noel also provides Early Contractor Involvement to major Government agencies such as Network Rail and the Highways Agency and has also acted as an expert witness for arbitration purposes.
Noel’s achievements in bridge dismantling received international recognition at the International Demolition Awards in 2011 when Armac received the ‘Civils’ award. This award was for the Wolvercote Viaduct project: the complex dismantling of 2no. 12 span, pre-stressed; post tensioned viaducts on the busy A34 highway near Oxford.
Noel and his team continue to push the boundaries of bridge dismantling in the UK with innovative and time challenging projects and are widely promoting the use of 2D & 3D CAD modelling within the industry to disseminate the complete dismantling process from early contractor design through to the final method statement for use by the site team
‘If you understand how a bridge structure is put together, then you know how to take it apart’ is Noels simple philosophy and having successfully removed over 200,000t of bridge structures to date, Noel and his team at Armac continue to raise the profile of Demolition Engineering both in the UK and abroad.
