Richard Dolman MIDE, Director of A R Demolition Ltd, will speak about his experience of a Space Deck Roof Collapse.
I started my own business at the age of twenty as a JCB owner operator in 1994 after completing a two week 180º Back Hoe Loader course. The business grew into a general plant hire and ground works operation. Eventually the business developed to encompass site clearance and then eventually demolition. I began to take on employees, invest in specialist machinery and training. I gained experience and knowledge by attending various training courses and keeping up to date with all relevant Health and Safety legislation via seminars and appointing a Health and Safety Consultant.
The challenge of running my own business, developing and obtaining all the skills that this requires, continues to motivate and excite me. I enjoy maintaining, expanding my knowledge and experience when and wherever possible. Recently I gained my CCDO Demolition Managers card, and am now a Member of the Institute of Demolition Engineers.
Being passionate about all areas relating to Health and Safety I am proud of the fact that I sit on the Executive Management Committee of the National Demolition Training Group, the NDTG Development Forum and the NVQ Development committee. This enables me to keep abreast of all current best practice and to inform the processes by which this can be delivered to all involved in the demolition industry.
